EU/EEA/Swiss and Dutch Study Grant

You are new to Holland. How can you receive Study Grant as free gift from the Dutch government (known as Study Finance, or Studiefinanciering in Dutch)?

1. If you are studying on a degree course, Full Time or Dual, at one of the Dutch Universities; and
2. You are from EU/EEA/Switzerland, aged between 18 and 29; and
3. You are (going to) receive a Dutch wage for a minimum 32 hours per month; and
4. Your yearly income is (will be) less than a certain limit. (2011: € 13215,83)
5. You will gain your degree within 10 years of first applying for your Study Grant.

How much money in total can you expect if you work for 32 hours per month at the minimum wage?

1. Your yearly wage depends on your total working hours and your hourly rate. Students who work for 32 hours a month can expect a total    amount of €3264.- in 2011;
2. If you are not living with your parents, you can expect to receive a total of € 3193.- from the Dutch government as basic grant in 2011;
3. If your parents do not have a high income, you are also entitled to a maximum of € 2891.- in 2011;

Besides your Dutch Study Grant, how else can you benefit from Dutch system?

1. Free public transport card which worth more than a thousand euro (€ 1000.-);
2. Access to an additional Study Support Loan and a Tuition Fee Loan
3. Possible Accommodation Rental Subsidy
4. Possible Health Care Subsidy
